The mission of the Wind-Born donation-based herbal clinic is to provide affordable and accessible health care to the community of Alpine, TX and surrounding towns; to give community members alternative health care options; and to empower individuals by helping them find herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle choices to support their health.
We see herbalism as one facet of a healing journey and respect all modalities of medicine. We focus on working with individuals to help them find ways to incorporate earth-based healing into their lives. The aim is to make herbal healing affordable and accessible for everyone, so we recommend lifestyle and nutritional choices, culinary plants, and herbs that are easy to source or grow before turning to more exotic plants.
Wind-Born is currently offering donation-based herbal consultations once or twice a month at the Alpine Farmer’s Market. No one will be turned away for their inability to pay. Our goal is to give people informed herbal advice so they can take their health into their own hands.
Donations will be used to cover the cost of the current “clinic,” such as materials for free herbal samples and handouts. Our goal is to raise enough money to one day provide an entire apothecary of sliding-scale medicine and we’ll slowly be using donations to create this medicine.
Wind-Born is the umbrella for the creative endeavors of Shea Cadrin. Shea is a graphic designer by trade, a painter by avocation, and an herbalist by passion & drive. She has studied clinical herbalism at Farmacy Herbs in Providence, RI with Mary Blue and a diverse group of guest teachers, apprenticed for several years with Stephan Brown in the apothecary at Great Cape Herbs in Brewster, MA, and is an avid self-teacher. Shea believes that the human body has an inherent ability to heal itself and finds great joy in helping people find herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle choices to support that process.
